Watergate Scandal
June 17, 1972, burglars were arrested inside the DNC. The burglars were connected to President Nixon's reelection campaign. They were attempting to wiretap phones. Nixon began raising "hush money" for the burglars and tried to prevent the FBI from investigating the matter. He resigned from office before he was impeached.
Iran Hostage Crisis
On November 4, 1979, Iranian students stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran. They took more than 60 American hostages. These students did not want any furhter interference from the U.S. with Iranian affairs. The hostages were released 444 days after being taken, and many people belive that this costed Jimmy Carter his second term.

This election was between George W. Bush and Albert Gore. The election was extremley close, and it all came down to Florida. The outcome was unkown for several weeks because of dispute over the close votes in Florida.

9/11 was a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks by the Islamic terrrorist group al-Qaeda. 2,996 people died.
