James Madison
James Madison was born in 1751, and died in 1836. He co-authored The Federalist, and he became the fourth president of the United States. Madison developed the Virginia Plan, which served as a basis for the development of the constitution.

The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the U.S.. Thomas Jefferson purchased it from France. Now people started moving further west, (especially immigrants) and they started raising livestock.
The Missouri Compromise made Missouri into a slave state, even though it was above the 36'30', where slavery was illegal. Because they didn't want there to be more slave states than free, Maine was made a free state.
